…Ring, Ring, Ring. Still no answer. 10:08 pm. 2 hours later. The phone rings. The rehearsed phone call turned into just-three-cautiously-spoken-words. “I miss you…” Silence.
“You don’t miss me… ?” Tension. Defeated by anger. Defeated by the unexpected reaction. Two unspoken hearts were preparing for battle. A battle with no purpose.
One heart utters, “I think I love you…Do you still love me?” The other heart retreats. Self-protection became the weapon of choice.
Hurt was to blame. It was too late to win either heart. Too much time elapsed. It became clear. Two hearts were hurting. Two hearts were protecting. Tragedy.
Fifteen minutes ended eight months. Six words ended fifteen minutes. “I know how to find you…” Defeated. Embarrassed. Rejected. Lost battle.
Five weeks - Five days – Five hours later. Twenty fifth birthday party. Three became the doctor of this treatment. Three best friends. Three Blazers. Three Patron shots. Three Tequila on the rocks.
A heart in full recovery mode. Still wounded. Back home with a new outlook on Love. Healing. Lesson learned.
Love is attainable for everyone. No planning is necessary. It just happens. None are perfect. Nobody is perfect. Flaws are inevitable. Live. Make the right mistakes. Learn from those mistakes.
Prepare your heart for its next battle and LISTEN TO IT!
